Help yourself to an easier birth by learning proven labor comfort measures
Childbirth is a natural, normal, physiological event.  That doesn't mean it's easy!!  In this hands-on class, you will practice a variety of comfort measures that can be used throughout a typical labor.  You will also practice techniques for one type of challenging labor: back labor.  The workshop ends with relaxation practice!

Comfort Measures for Natural Childbirth (Birth Matters, Session 6)
  • This class helps you put into practice everything you learn in the Birth Matters Course

This hands-on Birth Workshop gives expectant couples a variety of natural comfort measures so you can face your upcoming birth with increased confidence.  You will:
  • practice or discuss a large variety of comfort measures for childbirth: massage, counterpressure, use of hot/cold packs, showers, relaxation techniques, use of upright positions, use of a birthing ball, and more--emphasizing that you should plan to use the comfort measures that mom naturally prefers
  • have the knowledge and skills to apply a variety of coping techniques during different parts of your upcoming labor
  • know how optimal positioning of the baby can help to prevent or reduce back pain during labor
  • be able to use a variety of comfort measures and strategies if you experience back labor
  • know how dads and other birth partners can help ease pain during childbirth

What was most helpful about the class?  An expectant mom said, "All the positions (resting on knees and ball for example) and the comfort tools (tennis balls for massage, etc.)"
