Fertility after birth got you confused?
The time after baby can be one of the most confusing for couples who use Natural Family Planning, whether you want to achieve a pregnancy or postpone a pregnancy. Your fertility advisor can help you understand what is going on in your body and give you tips to help you to achieve your goals.
Click here to read a letter of recommendation from one of our clients who has relied on our fertility counseling skills after several of her pregnancies, in her case, in order to become pregnant. We also have considerable experience assisting couples to understand their fertility who desire to postpone pregnancy.
Fertility After Birth Workshop
This is the second session of the Postpartum Fertility MattersTM Program. In this class you will learn:
all about how to use the Fertility Matters Method, a Sympto-Thermal Method of Natural Family Planning, during your return of fertility after childbirth
what happens to a woman's fertility after a baby is born
how to tell if you are fertile or not fertile, whether breastfeeding, combination feeding or bottle feeding
how baby care practices influence when your fertility will return
tips to try if you want to conceive
how to postpone pregnancy while breastfeeding
Postpartum Fertility MattersTM Program
For couples who wish to have a full year of postpartum fertility counseling services, this Fertility Matters program consists of four scheduled sessions with a fertility advisor or fertility midwife. The visits are scheduled at key times when a woman's fertility status typically changes. You are also welcome to schedule 2 supplemental visits whenever you experience a significant change in your fertility status, such as getting your first period, or noticing key indicators of fertility. The first session is identical to the
Fertility Matters class. The second class is the Fertility After Childbirth Workshop. The third class covers the 4 "seasons" of childbearing and their connections, as well as the impact of exercise and body balance on fertility. During counseling sessions, we will catch up on how things have gone since your last visit, talk about any changes you have made in caring for your baby that may have impacted your fertility status, look at charts of your fertility signs, and discuss lifestyle choices you can make to strengthen your health. Even if your fertility returns before your year of counseling is finished, your fertility advisor is committed to continue seeing you, if you wish, in order to help you achieve and maintain healthy cycles. But if you become pregnant, we will refer you to the care of a midwife!
For those women familiar with midwifery care during pregnancy, this program gives you a "fertility midwife" for the months or years between your pregnancies.
This series is appropriate for breastfeeding, combination feeding, and bottle feeding mothers. The only difference is when the counseling sessions occur.
Breastfeeding mothers: typically meet at 2, 6, 9 and 14 months postpartum
Combination feeding mothers: timing of meetings depends on how often you breastfeed or bottle feed
Bottle feeding mothers: typically meet at 3, 6, 9 and 13 weeks postpartum
If you are already past these key times, we will simply start wherever you are and proceed from there!
"Thank you & God bless! So appreciative of your listening ear."--S.K., Minneapolis, prior postpartum fertility counseling client
