Curious about or planning a homebirth?  Planning to give birth at home is the best choice for most couples who want a peaceful, natural childbirth without medical interventions.  The certified childbirth educator who teaches this class has had three homebirths herself and is eager to encourage couples who want to know more about giving birth at home.

 
Home Sweet Home (Birth Matters, Session 4) 
Giving birth at home is a wonderful start to your growing family.   This class will cover:
  • why someone planning a hospital birth should still think like a "homebirther" and prepare for the possibility of giving birth at home
  • the reasons why giving birth at home makes sense from a physiological and emotional point of view
  • what happens during a homebirth
  • how to make your homebirth as safe as possible for you & baby
  • how to prepare for your homebirth
  • tips and techniques for handling pain that are available at home
  • what happens if you need a transfer of care or to transport to the hospital
  • encouragement for your choice to give birth at home
  • resources for couples who wish to give birth at home

About this class

Instructor: Christelle J. K. Hagen, CCE Christelle is a certified childbirth educator with Apple Tree Family Ministries ("Childbirth Without Fear", the Grantly Dick-Read Method).  Christelle has been teaching childbirth education classes since 1999.  Christelle has put together a new course to give couples more of the facts that they need to know to achieve the natural pregnancies and intervention-free childbirths they desire.  The Proactive Pregnancy MattersTM and Birth MattersTM courses were born!  To learn more about Christelle, read about us.
