Mothers Need Midwives
Midwives are guardians of normal pregnancy and childbirth. All of the moms who have taken St. Croix Birth & Parenting classes have been low risk. Did you know that 85% of St. Croix Birth & Parenting moms who had a midwife in attendance at the time of their birth had natural childbirths, but only 25% of SCBP moms with a physician in attendance gave birth without pain medications? And that 20% of physician-attended labors were induced (started artificially) but no midwives induced labor? That 60% of moms with a physician in attendance had their labors augmented (speeded artificially) but only 14% of labors were augmented in midwife-attended births? Why the big difference? Midwives are the experts at aiding women to give birth normally, naturally, and safely.
