You may watch many TV birth story shows or see many birth videos without ever seeing a normal, natural childbirth. This class will walk you through a straight-forward "typical" natural childbirth so that you know exactly what to expect! Did you know that the choices you make throughout your pregnancy can help maximize your chance for a natural childbirth--or make it harder for you--before your uterus even begins to contract? Natural Childbirth in a Nutshell (Birth Matters, Session 1)

This class sets the stage for everything you learn in the Birth Matters Course

What is a normal birth? What is natural childbirth really like? During this class, you will hear natural childbirth stories from mothers who recently gave birth in the St. Croix Valley. You will also have the opportunity to view natural childbirths on DVD. In addition, this class presents:

an overview of the typical course of a normal, natural childbirth (stages and phases of labor)
detailed explanations of each phase of labor and how movement and positive birthing positions help keep labor progressing

physical and emotional signs the laboring woman gives as she goes through labor that indicate how close she is to the birth

hormones that aid and hormones that hinder birth and how to get and keep the good ones flowing!

About this class

Instructor: Christelle J. K. Hagen, CCE Christelle is a certified childbirth educator with Apple Tree Family Ministries ("Childbirth Without Fear", the Grantly Dick-Read Method). Christelle has been teaching childbirth classes since 1999. Christelle has put together a new course to give couples more of the facts that they need to know to achieve the natural pregnancies and intervention-free childbirths they desire--the Proactive Pregnancy Matters^TM and Birth Matters^TM courses.
